My Letter To You
This week on Twitter, I wrote a thread on personal insights into how I think about joining and introducing myself to a new community.
Breaking the ice in a new community can be a daunting task. But, with the right approach and mindset, you can make the transition more enjoyable.
One crucial factor to remember is always staying true to yourself. Embrace your quirks, embrace your unique personality, and love yourself for who you are. This will make it easier for others to connect with you and for you to feel comfortable in your new surroundings.
Before taking action, observing the community for a few days is a good idea. This will give you a better understanding of the brand, the team, and how they communicate. You'll also get a sense of how other members interact with each other and what kind of tone the community has. Take some notes on your observations and consider what value you hope to gain from your time in the community.
Once you've observed, it's time to take action. The best way to introduce yourself is to be authentic. Share your whole person, and don't be afraid to let others see your true self. Remember that many people put up walls online, so being open and honest will help you stand out and connect with others more effectively.
When introducing yourself, don't give a long-winded speech. Instead, act as if you've already been part of the community for weeks. You'll become more confident and comfortable in your new surroundings with time and practice.
Education is also a critical factor in breaking the ice. Do your research and educate yourself on the community and its members. This will help you understand community lingo, making it easier to participate in conversations.
It's important to remember that everyone in the community is unique and has their quirks and challenges. Your fellow community members are just as weird as you, so there's no need to feel self-conscious or out of place.
One final tool for introducing yourself to a new community is to join Twitter Spaces. Live audio conversations are a great way to connect with others and share your thoughts and experiences.
In conclusion:
Embrace your unique personality
👩🏼🏫 Do your research
🌈 Participate in conversations and events.
🏠️ With time and practice, you'll feel right at home in no time!
Over the life of this newsletter, you’ll be introduced to many concepts, frameworks, and foundations that guide me in web3 community-building efforts. You’ll also have access to some fascinating digital collectible experiments I have planned in the coming months. 👀
Hint: there’s a story involved, and Inner Colors members will be given exclusive clues leading up to the events. 💛 💚 💙
Reflections
(and some from the past couple of weeks to get you caught up)
My good friend Laguna encouraged me to share what’s on my radar for February, so here we go!
February experiments:
💖 Weekly Sunday morning newsletter
💖 Use new AI tools to increase creativity and productivity
💖 Spend more time with experienced builders who can offer support (I’m bad at asking for it)
💖 Pitch Together to at least 4 people, even just for feedback
January experiments:
💚 Launch newsletter
❤️ Sleep earlier
💛 Eat healthier
❤️ Touch grass
💚 One thread per week
This week, someone asked me: “How do you manage FOMO in web3, a space constantly shoving beautiful art, timed mints, and information into your eyeballs”?
I told them my answer was simple: I release the hold it has on me. I can hardly afford a single Open Edition unless they're free, much less other mints or buying on secondary markets.
I enjoy things for what they are - art, tech, and people.
You can appreciate art that you don't own, and appreciate someone's success that isn't your own.
I can pay attention and take in the information without going broke or upset.

Sublayer
Sublayer is building a web3-aware professional networking platform for the decentralized worker.
Static resumes & LinkedIn profiles are a good solution for displaying a single-track career path, but this does not apply to most of us.
Our experience is more distributed now than ever, working remotely and collaborating with more people worldwide on more than just what we do in our day job. We need a place to showcase everything we’re capable of that is purpose-built for the reality that we live in now.
Enter Sublayer. A customizable profile to consolidate, display and distribute everything you do professionally alongside all the people you do them with.
PS. If you would like your project or art in this section, reply to this email with the subject “Recommendations,” and let’s chat! These are not sponsored recommendations, only products and people I believe in, so DYOR.
